What is Venturing?
Venturing is a youth-led program apart of the organization Scouts BSA which teaches youth ages 14-20 to lead their own adventures. The program follows the A-L-P-S model to help Ventures grow in the pillars of adventure, leadership, personal development, and service.
Who is eligible to join Crew 314?
Crew 314 is open to young adults ages 14-20 (or 13 and have completed the 8th grade) located in or around the Santa Clarita Valley.
Do I need to have previous Scout BSA experience?
No prior experience in any Scouts BSA program is nessesary, many of our crew members have joined without any previous Scouting experience.
What are some of Crew 314 activities?
Crew 314 has many activities throughout the year such as hiking, fishing, backpacking, water sports and community service. While many of our outings focus on high adventure and the outdoors, we also hold fun events such as bowling, escape room and movie nights. The variety of events, voted on by the Ventures, helps build strong bonds within our Crew and help Ventures build their leadership skills.
How is Venturing different than Scouting?
While both are apart of the Scouts BSA organization, there are many key differences between the two. Venturing is designed for older youth, and has a more leadership opportunities and adventure focused outing. While Scouts focus on many outdoor and saftey skills, Venturing is focused on hands on planning and leading larger events.
